Achtung maybe - Amy's up for German award
Published Date: 04 February 2009
BISHOPBRIGGS folk-rock superstar Amy Macdonald is up for a top music award and getting ready to star alongside U2.
Amy has been nominated for best international female at the Echo Awards in Germany.
It's the latest piece of good fortune for the pop princess as she has now sold over two million copies of debut album 'This is the Life' – including 700,000 copies in Germany alone.
Amy gushed: "This is such great news for me. It's such a massive awards show and it really means a lot to finally be recognised for my music.
"I always say the best reward for me is having great fans and I totally stand by that, but it does feel nice to be recognised.
"I've been left out of awards shows for so long and this makes it even more special."
But she added: "The best news is that not only have I been nominated, but I have been asked to perform as well.
"This is incredibly exciting as the other performers are U2! I cannot believe I will be performing on the same stage as U2. This is such a huge honour and I can't wait."
Amy is also celebrating after scooping £1,600 courtesy of boyfriend Stevie Lovell. She put a £25 bet on the Falkirk striker scoring first in the game against Rangers and he duly obliged.
The Bishopbriggs musician is currently working on new material.
